Art & Intuition: An Act of Will
Coming across a lens I haven’t used in a really long time, I attached it to my camera and headed out into the rain with a blue vase and an LED light that Dennis often uses when fixing cars. I had no real ideas about what I’d shoot. Everything’s pretty brown and depressing right now, but you just never know. I put the cubical vase on its side on one of the retaining walls out back, laid a fallen oak leaf in it, set up the light and turned it on, and then understood why I hadn’t used the lens in a long time. It’s broken somehow, and my camera wouldn’t take a picture with it attached. So I separated the two and did some free-lensing. It all turned out just fine, as I had trusted it would.
