There are more trees within five square miles of me than there are people in my entire town. Such ubiquity tends to lead to looking without seeing, but I do make the effort: sometimes more successfully than others. Right now, trees are beginning to leaf out, and I enjoy seeing the bare branches punctuated by buds, catkins, and tiny leaves. Capturing that promise held aloft above me, though, can be tough to do with a camera. Unless the sunlight is just right, the sky is forming a perfect backdrop, and the focus is spot-on, I end up with just another picture of a tree—hence, the multiple exposure image here that helps me better appreciate my surroundings. It was an experiment that seems to have paid off: an image with enough nuance to lead a viewer to wonder.
